There is a lot of unnecessary but understandable confusion out there about hemp. Is it illegal? Is it the same as marijuana? Is it psychoactive? Does hemp have high levels of THC? The short answer to all of these questions is no, but we will go into them in more detail later. For now, let’s focus on one thing at a time… What is THC? And what is the difference between THC free and full spectrum hemp products? Today, your questions and worries will be put to rest. This means you will be able to take advantage of the many health-promoting benefits of hemp products with zero anxiety. Let’s get to it!
THC Explained
THC is one of over a hundred cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. THC is short for delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol. Only one other cannabinoid derived from cannabis is commonly known. It is cannabidiol (also known by its common abbreviation). Interestingly, cannabidiol appears to be anti-psychoactive, which means that it is commonly used to produce a sense of calm. Your body houses cannabinoid receptors that help to regulate mood, appetite, memory, pain, and sleep. These receptors are part of your endocannabinoid system, which is a part of the central nervous system.
THC is the psychoactive chemical in cannabis that produces the “high” commonly associated with marijuana. THC overloads your body’s cannabinoid receptors in order to produce this high. To be legally grown as industrial hemp, cannabis plants must have THC levels less than 0.3%. This level of THC is too low to produce psychoactive effects. Hemp farmers are under heavy scrutiny by the USDA to comply with these standards. Crops are regularly tested, and when THC levels rise above the 0.3% limit, the entire yield is scrapped, and the process starts over.
THC Free
Because THC is only present in certain parts of the cannabis plant, it is easy to produce THC-free cannabis products. THC is only found in the leaves and flowers of the cannabis plant. The seeds and fibers of cannabis are virtually THC free. When a cannabis or hemp product is labeled THC Free, it means that it was taken from these parts of the plant. THC-free products are also tested to ensure that there is no quantifiable amount of THC.
Our line of THC free hemp products are designed to help you relieve and elevate your mind, body, and soul. Wondering about the specifics? Each batch of product undergoes 3rd-party testing and the results are available on each product page!
Full Spectrum
Full Spectrum Hemp Extract keeps the natural plant compounds of hemp intact. It is also subjected to fewer refining processes, giving you a more synergistic effect. Full spectrum hemp oils contain each beneficial compound found in the cannabis plant. This includes over 100 different cannabinoids, over 150 terpenes, and around 20 flavonoids. Terpenes and flavonoids are thought to have calming and protective qualities. Because none of the cannabinoids are removed from full spectrum oil, there is a small amount of THC. However, our full spectrum tinctures are guaranteed to adhere to the industrial hemp limit of less than 0.3% THC.
